Network Orientation Session

A 90-minute guided walkthrough of Solana's core architecture — accounts, transactions, programs, and consensus — tailored to your background.

Who this session is for

This is our flagship session for anyone who has heard about Solana but cannot yet explain how a transaction moves from a wallet to confirmation. You might be a developer evaluating the network, a journalist researching a story, or simply a curious reader who wants a solid foundation before exploring further.

No prior blockchain experience is required, though familiarity with basic computing concepts helps.

What you will cover

The session follows a structured map of the network:

  1. Accounts and ownership — how Solana stores data differently from account-based chains you may know
  2. Transactions and instructions — what happens when you sign and submit
  3. Programs and the runtime — how smart contracts (programs) execute on Solana
  4. Validators and consensus — proof of history, proof of stake, and what “finality” means in practice
  5. Fees and rent — why transactions cost what they do and how account storage works

What is included

  • A printed or digital reference map you can keep after the session
  • Access to our glossary of Solana terms covered during the walkthrough
  • Follow-up email with links to the articles and tools mentioned
  • Option to book a shorter follow-up Q&A within 30 days

What is not included

  • Investment or trading advice
  • Wallet setup on your personal device (available as a separate briefing)
  • Custom development tutorials or code review

How it works

  1. Contact us with your preferred dates and current knowledge level
  2. We confirm the session and send a short pre-reading list (optional, ~15 minutes)
  3. Meet at our Birmingham office or join via video call
  4. Receive your reference materials and follow-up resources within 24 hours

Preparation

Bring any questions you have accumulated from reading about Solana. If you have already attempted to use a wallet or explorer, note where you got stuck — that often makes the best starting point.
